Single Rotary Bi-Layer Compression Design
Enables independent compression of two layers for controlled weight, thickness, and interlayer bonding.

Bi-Layer R&D Tablet Press
The Elizabeth EP-200L is a compact bi-layer rotary tablet press designed for formulation development, pilot-scale production, and small-batch manufacturing of layered tablets. Built with GMP-compliant materials and separated tableting and mechanical zones, it provides controlled, repeatable compression in a development-focused footprint.
Configured for D, B, or combination multi-tooling, the EP-200L supports output up to 19,800 tablets per hour depending on tooling selection. Independent first and second layer filling, tamping, and compression allow precise control over weight, thickness, and bonding strength between layers.
Equipped with a touch screen control interface, load cells for compression monitoring, and force or gravity feeding systems, the EP-200L delivers accurate bi-layer tablet production for R&D teams and manufacturers preparing for scale-up.
The Elizabeth EP-200L is designed for formulation development, clinical batches, and pilot-scale production of bi-layer tablets. As a single rotary, double-layer tablet press, it allows manufacturers to independently control the first and second layer filling, tamping, and compression stages, supporting precise weight management and strong interlayer bonding.
With multiple turret configurations available in D, B, or combination tooling, the EP-200L delivers output up to 19,800 tablets per hour depending on configuration. The machine provides 10 kN tamping force and up to 50 kN main compression force, enabling controlled consolidation of each layer before final compression. Adjustable upper punch penetration for both layers allows fine tuning of tablet density, thickness, and mechanical strength.
The EP-200L features GMP-compliant construction with separated tableting and mechanical zones to support cleanability and maintenance. A touch screen control interface with load cells for compression monitoring provides real-time visibility of pre and main compression forces. Depending on configuration, the press can be equipped with gravity or force feeding systems to ensure consistent material flow for each layer.
For organizations developing layered formulations, combination-release tablets, or specialty dual-ingredient products, the EP-200L provides the control, flexibility, and mechanical stability required at the development and pilot stage.
