Elizabeth Carbide of North Carolina was established in Lexington, North Carolina, in 1979 specifically for the manufacture of round pharmaceutical tooling. With recent additions, the plant now encompasses 40,000 square feet and has expanded its product line to service other industries that use round steel tooling. A finished inventory of round pharmaceutical punches and dies is maintained for next-day delivery.

This facility is a completely self-sufficient manufacturing operation and includes its own tablet and tool design department, as well as heat treating and chrome plating. Computer links in the engineering and design department connect this plant with other Elizabeth facilities. The customer service department works independently and in conjunction with the other plants to assure that all customer needs are fulfilled. With a focused work force and machinery adapted to this specific type of tooling, the North Carolina facility itself has become a world leader in the manufacture of round rotary press tooling.
