Carbide Die Co., Inc. Located
in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, The Elizabeth Companies' headquarters and
main manufacturing facility employs more than 150 machinists, engineers,
quality control specialists, management and support staff. The 50,000-square-foot
facility is constantly being updated and equipped with the latest technology
and machinery to meet the ever-growing demand for Elizabeth products.
Elizabeth Carbide's design and engineering department is unequaled in the industry. The CAD/CAM system speeds engineering and production and allows for perfect repeatability and interchangeability of even the most complex tooling. This department is further enhanced by Dynamic Force Study Analysis, a powerful custom-designed state-of-the-art software program which analyzes the dynamic forces that affect tablet compression. This program considers every aspect of tool design in order to predict how it will perform on the production line-even before prototype tooling is made. Elizabeth's
commitment to purchasing the latest in computer-controlled equipment
allows engineers, designers and machinists to constantly achieve higher
quality and delivery standards. Combining the latest technology with
a well-trained and thoroughly experienced team of machinists, Elizabeth
Carbide provides customers with unsurpassed capabilities in conventional
machining, electrical discharge machining, drilling, grinding, lapping
and polishing.
Computer numerically controlled (CNC) lathes and mills reduce machining time by 50 to 500 percent and permit some parts and dimensions to be machined to size, eliminating the need for grinding and lapping operations. A battery of CNC high-speed turret lathes, adapted to production of tooling for various industries, precisely machine part after part from 16-foot-long alloy steel bars. This equipment greatly increases productivity and efficiency. CNC traveling wire electric discharge machines (EDM) precision-cut other intricately shaped parts to size. CNC jig grinders are used for precision point-to-point location grinding, contour grinding and straight OD and ID grinding. Complete in-house heat treating and chroming operations further enhance Elizabeth's product quality and reduce delivery time. This broad array of sophisticated equipment and machinery enables this facility to concentrate on the design and manufacture of shaped and multi-cavity tooling of every description for all industries that utilize compacting tooling.
